First Picture of the Day. Unfortunately, I did not want that tram to be the background...
This is the background I really wanted... Sort of. I was trying to get Buda Castle in the background.
It's actually more impressive that I had the first picture taken exactly as the tram went by.. But anyways, here's the Buda Castle. One of the places we planned to go visit!
Crossing the Chain Bridge!
Parliament from the bridge
Now we're on the Buda side of Budapest... looking at a tunnel that goes right through the hill!!! They also have a tram that takes you right up the hillside to the top.
But we decide to take the scenic route... It went on and on and on....
We arrive at one of the Buda Cathedrals! Ta da!
Another view of Parliament from the other side. We're in the Fisherman's Bastion.
Nathan guarding the door against intruders!
Me! In Budapest!
Nathan along the Fisherman's Bastion
Heel Click time!
A tiny fortress in the Bastion. Nathan wouldn't move the sign for me...
Another view of the Cathedral
Trying not to fall off the other side.
Do you really know how to aim that thing?
Now if only we could read Hungarian, we'd know exactly where we are...
A view of the Buda side of Budapest
They said, "knock yourself out." And we thought they said, "knock this stuff out." We had a good time, at least... Just kidding!
The back side of Buda Castle! We made it!
One of the many statues around Buda Castle, pretty much my favorite!
Or maybe this one is...
The inside courtyard of Buda Castle... Right behind us is a UPS truck... Takes the magic out of the scenery.
Priscilla's so tall! She's going to knock the tower over!
The Citadel from the Castle... Dare we go visit? It's so far away!
This tickled me. Very cute, guys...
We decided to hike up the hill and see Gellert Hill. Nathan convinced us it wasn't much further to the Citadel...
We made it!
What's she holding a feather for? To shade her eyes? It was sunny that day!
A view of the Danube from the Citadel.
Nathan agrees to high-five the Citadel lady.
We came back down the hill. There's this cool Church in the side of the mountain!
This is where we go next- The Covered Market!
Inside the Covered Market... You could stack a lot of hay in there...
And of course we have traditional Hungarian food- Goulash with Spetzel (sp?). And of course, Nathan has to get a sausage, which he stores in my water bottle so he can have the rest later! Gross!
These guys keep munching away!
After the Market, we walk across town to the beautiful Baths of Budapest. Unfortunately, you can't just look at the Baths. You have to pay to use them, so you probably have to pay to see them. Boo.
At least the building is pretty.
And along the way, we come across Hero's Square!
These people were really into their statues...
A display outside the TERROR HOUSE.
TERROR HOUSE was a building that used to be used by the government during the era of Hitler. A pretty scary museum... Unfortunately, we didn't get to go inside, because we got there too late.
We finish the day with Haagan Dazs ice cream.
Here, biking is so popular, they even have traffic lights for cyclists! And that is the end of Day 2! The Next day is Bratislava! Hope you're excited! -E
Love the photos!! Solomon was dead by the time we were there :o(
