busy busy!

I started a job yesterday! Shhh! It\'s not really a job! It\'s a... Uh... Uh... A distraction from doing nothing! It\'s more like a volunteer position. I\'m not getting paid or anything like that, but it\'s definitely a good way to get through the morning. I am now a breakfast maker for the Commonwealth house! I make porridge(which is just goopier oatmeal), and I help make hard-boiled eggs, cut up apples and bananas, and then wash the dishes. I am actually really glad I\'m doing this because it\'s given me a chance to meet a lot of the people in the house. I couldn\'t tell you all of their names, but I can definitely say "good morning!" and they recognize me. Or so I think to myself, this is only my second day in the kitchen! It\'s not really hard, but there\'s a lot to get ready before people show up! Luckily, I\'m getting tutored by Dion, who\'s the head chef, if that\'s what you could call someone who only makes the breakfast in the house! She\'s such a sweet girl, and I\'m so glad I get to work with her, because she\'s super friendly, and very helpful. I think I\'m getting the good end of the deal! The job\'s only from 7-10, so that leaves me plenty of time to get other things done! Yesterday after breakfast, I went for a run, showered, had lunch with Nate at Wycliffe Hall(that\'s the building where he primarily studies), and then jumped into a spouses bible study, hosted by Wycliffe Hall! I got home about 3 in the afternoon, and then just read the rest of the day when I found out we were eating dinner at one of Nate\'s classmate\'s house. I got to help make garlic bread, while everyone crowded around the stove to make the spaghetti. Too many cooks in the kitchen! Too much hilarity! Everyone\'s running around, making suggestions, grabbing plates, looking for utensils, and dancing to the music... I was clutching my sides, I was so thoroughly tickled by the scene. While it was all being passed out, everybody was contentedly munching and talking, we just had such a lovely time! Everybody is just too funny! I was just so thankful to be apart of it! It\'ll be nice to have things to look forward to, and a "job" to keep me busy! It just makes me feel like: I have purpose! A reason to be at Oxford! Hurray! -Erin
